UW-La Crosse jazz ensembles to perform

Classic big band pieces, Latin-jazz, jazz-funk and contemporary compositions will highlight an upcoming spring concert. The UW-La Crosse Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble will perform a joint concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29, in the Bluffs, UWL Student Union, 521 East Ave. N. Composers featured in the concert include Duke Ellington, Fred Sturm and Bob Mintzer. Each group also features a vocalist who will sing a number of songs, including big band arrangements written for the great jazz vocalist, Ella Fitzgerald. UWL Music Department Associate Lecturer Jeff Erickson is director of the ensembles.
