A message from your Academic Director:
Welcome to Data Science. I’m Dr. Jeff Baggett, or Dr. B. for short, and I’m the Academic Director for Data Science at UW-La Crosse and a professor in the Mathematics and Statistics Department. Many of your questions about scheduling, technical support, registration, etc. can be answered by the helpful people at datascience@uwex.edu and I’m here for everything else including advising and listening to your complaints or suggestions. I truly welcome your input.

Frequently Asked Questions
Dropping Classes
- If you are dropping all your classes even if that’s only one class, then this is considered a withdrawal from the university and you must contact the Office of Student Life, studentlife@uwlax.edu, AND Jeff Baggett, jbaggett@uwlax.edu AND ameier@uwlax.edu. There may be a withdrawal fee assessed.
- If you will remain enrolled in other classes, but need to withdraw from a class contact Jeff Baggett, jbaggett@uwlax.edu.
Graduation
- Apply for graduation immediately after registering for your final semester. Additional graduation information is available here.
- You must complete a credit check with the Dean's Office to verify that you have met all of the graduation requirements. Please contact, Travis Hendrickson to request a credit check.
Network with Other Students
There is a LinkedIn group for the Data Science program. It is a great place to network, communicate with fellow students and ask questions regarding classes, books, etc.
Policies and Rights
As a UW-La Crosse (UWL) student you are subject to the same policies and have the same rights as any UWL student no matter which campus is responsible for your Data Science class.
- Students must maintain a 3.00 cumulative grade point average. Academic eligibility standards may be accessed here.
- UWL policy regarding academic misconduct (it is the same for
graduate students) - UWL policies regarding sexual misconduct, religious accommodations,
students with disabilities, and veterans and active military personnel
